Inspect the Tires

Grab a penny and insert it into one of the tire's grooves. Make sure you position the penny to where the head is facing you and pointing down. If you can see the entire head on the penny, you need to have your tires replaced.
You also need to make sure the PSI (pounds per square inch) of each tire is correct. Otherwise, your car may handle differently – which could result in a wreck. Use a digital tire pressure gauge, and make sure the PSI readings are correct based upon your car owner's manual.
Change Your Brake Pads
Brake pads are pivotal to maintain, as they are responsible for the stopping power of your car. Brake pads that are too thin may cause your brakes to not work properly, which is why it's important to inspect these pads as often as possible.
If the pads are less than 3mm thick, you need to change them out. Start by loosening the lug nuts on the wheel, and take the wheel completely off.
